When it comes to the environment, we are all neighbours. We share the same air, water, and resources. Being a green neighbour means expanding our conscience beyond our own back yard: realizing that everything we do affects everyone else on this planet.
As an environmentally conscious father, citizen, and teacher, I am always interested in educating others about the value of nurturing and protecting our natural environment. Otherwise, it's just too easy for any given generation to live for today and forget about tomorrow. The fact of the matter is this: tomorrow always comes. Soon enough, our children will be living in the tomorrow that we are creating today.
This website is dedicated to sharing both information and ideas: information about climate change, and ideas about how we can all manage our lives in a more environmentally sustainable manner. Please browse around the site, and feel free to drop me a line to share any thoughts, ideas, or questions you may have. About Us
The green neighbours are an ordinary family living in a typical neighbourhood in Newmarket, Ontario. We are teachers by profession, and we believe in the value of the environment and the power of education. That's why we have committed ourselves to both living an environmentally sustainable lifestyle and to sharing practical and accessible ideas with other families. Given that more than 80% of the Canadian population lives in cities, this is where Canadians can make their greatest impact on climate change.
We are not particularly wealthy nor particularly eccentric. Invariably, we are just like a lot of other people living in the world today: we simply feel that the environment is worth considering when making day to day decisions about how to conduct our lives.
Yours in the environment,
Art Lightstone
